Pendleton Clothing

From the hand made Native American blanket the Pendleton Mills legend began at the turn of the century with a woolen mill in Pendleton, Oregon. Producing beautiful wool blankets in vivid colors and authentic designs for the neighboring Umatilla and Cayuse tribes.

Those Legendary Pendleton Blankets

By the early 1900’s the relationship between Pendleton Mills and Drew’s Boots in Klamath Falls, Oregon had been established. Pendleton Woolen Mills were one of the first companies to offer Native American designs and the styles and textures that are so loved today. Loyalty to the brand was evident with the Nez Perce nation and Chief Joseph near Pendleton, who used the blankets to keep warm for apparel and for ceremonial use. The word of the unbelievable quality of the blankets spread, and the tribes that endorsed the brand include Navajo, Hopi and Zuni nations. The popularity of the blankets and their use of Pendleton pattern designers had enormous respect for Native American history and culture. Pendleton employees spent time with the Indian tribes of Oregon and the Southwest, to learn more about the Indian respect for quality and the reflection on Native American lifestyle that could be incorporated into the manufacturing process. Today Pendleton wool blankets are considered some of the finest blankets to be found and are still proudly made in Pendleton, Oregon the same state that founded Drew’s Boots.
